Introduction:
The recent shut down by Forumer on the 12th Feb 2008 made us realized how vulnerable we are if we continue to host with a free site. While we managed to salvage the forum back online, the ambiguous reason given of shutting us down could happen anytime in the future. Hence ever since that incident we have discussed and collected feedbacks from BWers on the future of Blowing Wind Forum. From that we had made the decision to migrate BW from the existing Forumer to a new commercial hosting site. New Blowing Wind Forum http://www.blowingwind.org Existing features: • Absolutely FREE, no monthly subscription, no need to pay to join as member • All members’ particulars (prior to 12th Feb) are migrated to the new site, so you can log in with your user ID and password, your PM messages should still remain • In tune to BW’s principle, guest can continue to post without signing up as a member. • For guest posting, there will be a graphical verification check to prevent spam bots from attacking the forum • All main and sub folder will remain the same • All moderators will remain the same New Features: • PM storage is increase to 100 messages, up from the existing 50 messages (a 100% increase from previous limit imposed by Forumer.) • Also we now allow mass-PM to 5 people at one time with the same message. • Simplified search function to encourage usage (click search on the top right of the forum) • New search option within the same topic. Useful for topic spanning few pages, to which you require certain information (e.g. masseur's contact number) • New control panel interface (click "My Controls" after logging in) including personal note pad for your reminder. • New profile interface (click on your user ID on the top left of the forum) which now allows the adding of personal photo (different from avatar), member’s rating feature, adding friends, adding comments to other members and tracking your last posting or the topic you had started. • Calendar feature which showcase the birthday of our members. Members are able to create new entry to highlight coming events. Restrictions: While we are a forum without attitude, there are still basic guidelines that we maintain. • No drugs • No underage soliciting or posting • No racial, political, religion attacks • This forum is only open to adults above the age of 18 years old • Promotion of safe sex Known issues: • Due to the database received from Forumer after the shut down incident, we only able to migrate data up till 12th Feb 2008, therefore all postings / new topics / PM messages created or modified after 12th Feb 2008 were not migrated over. Also new member accounts creation after 12th Feb 2008 was not captured as well. • We will only migrate selected articles manually, which is evident in the new forum, by Ikutube. • However we are unable to retrieve the member accounts created after 12th Feb, hence we would like to request affected members please re-register at the new forum. • In addition, member’s uploaded avatar pictures were not migrated smoothly; hence you may need to upload your avatar again. Schedule The new forum will officially be up and running on the 8th March 2008, currently we are on a soft launch, however we will still keep the existing forum for a period of a month for those who couldn’t reach to the new forum. During this period of 1 month, only the feedback folder is able to add new posting for the purpose of troubleshooting. All new topics and posting are requested to contribute to the new forum. Feedback As this forum is new, there are bound to be teething problems, we hope members will report bugs. Technical users who can offer fixes are most welcome. Should there be any issue or suggestion, do drop the moderators PM or email or post it at the Feedback Section in the forum. Today marks a new beginning for all of us - Finally!, we have our own forum.
 Now that the new site is up, amidst some internal administrative works still being carried out, we urge members to start posting there. There, guests can start posting too. The new site - Blowingwind Forum |
